A song about the credit crunch - ‘Tell Me’ by The Echo Session (September 15, 2009)
Finally someone has written a song about the ‘credit crunch’ - well almost. More accurately, ‘Tell Me’ by The Echo Session is about fat cat bankers that flourish and tell us our money is safe (of course we all believe that) while we get poorer and they get richer!

This deceptively simple song has more than a hint of Ray Davies about the song writing and vocals. If you’re of a certain age ‘Tell Me’ sounds uncannily like the sharply searching poetry from the early acoustic Kinks. And that’s no bad comparison.

Echo SessionThere’s an edge to the vocals that demand attention, while the acute lyrics ask probing questions about those that look after the money we save. Then again, those people will probably never listen to this song. The lyrics even give some practical choices – in the bank or under the mattress?

The Echo Session from Glasgow is Tam (vocals, guitar) Al (guitar, vocals) Stuart (tea chest, vocals) and Ryan (drums, washboard) and if this short single is anything to go by the promised album should be worth a listen.

The single ‘Tell Me’ releases on 5 October 2009 while the debut album is scheduled for early 2010 – look out for it.
