'First and Last' pure pleasure from RM Hubbert (February 19, 2010)
For all its vagaries life presents certain constants – the sun rises, winter fades - and ‘First and Last’ by RM Hubbert contains some stunning percussive guitar playing. There’s a concoction of style and influence here that combines to make this album something incredibly different yet at the same time it seems to slide on familiar acoustic wings. On ‘First and Last’ Hubbert works across a range of styles based on Flamenco foundations and techniques overlayed with the inspiration of his own melodical constructions. The result is pure pleasure.

There’s no doubt about it, this music demands free time, peace and candlelight. You cannot rush this music and it’s a crime to do so. Find some personal space, settle down and relax into this most mellow, warm and tranquil music. Hubbert has a feel for the 'wood and the strings’ that take the guitar places many try to achieve. This collaboration is pure music without visible seams. From the delicate touches of ‘For Maria’ to the intricacies of ‘TipsyTapsy’ and the softness of ‘Skyreburn’ - Hubbertlove the guitar and you’ll love this.

Initially, ‘First and Last’  was released as a specially produced, hand bound, hardback art book. As well as the hand-made book the open source inspired record label Ubisano is set to release the CD on 1 March 2010.
