FolkWords

Welcome to FolkWords - independent events focused on folk, acoustic and roots music. We look at folk in all its various forms of expression, its influences, how it's developing and why.

Folk music is many things to many people. It's classified and categorised in varied, strange and often inaccurate ways - from traditional, acoustic, world and roots, to nu-folk, electric folk, medieval folk and folk-rock, via bluegrass, country and Americana, through progressive folk, neo folk and electronic psych, to punk folk, folk metal and thrash folk. Its influences range far and wide, ebb, flow and coalesce to span traditional, new and different.

FolkWords remains open-minded, eclectic (without dependence on artificial or pointless definitions) free of corporate contamination and influence, and interested in anything that falls under the wider category of folk music.

FolkWords Upcoming Events

Due to the outbreak of coronavirus pandemic all events are cancelled until further notice.

FolkWords holds events in countries, which are a part of folk culture, where people from local and global folk communities meet up to present and discuss current state and future of the genre.

This year FolkWords organised multiple events in UK. However, due to the current global situation with the coronavirus pandemic, all events are pushed back for an unknown amount of time.

Meanwhile please check out these hotels provided by our main sponsor, they are the reason these events are happening in the first place:
